In some cases where your water supply is shared with neighbouring premises, the water meter is part of a meter network with one or more submeters. Only submeters installed by the water Wholesaler are used for bill calculations.
Shared Water Supply
In cases where your water supply is shared with neighbouring premises, the water meter is part of a meter network, consisting of a main meter and one or more submeters (deduction meters). Consumption recorded on the submeter(s) is subtracted from the consumption on the main meter to calculate usage for the first premises in the network.
Private Submeters
Some private networks may have additional submeters to help customers allocate usage and identify leaks. However, readings from private submeters are not considered when calculating your bills. Only submeters installed by the water Wholesaler are used for bill calculations.
