Assessing Charges with an Assessed Tariff
If the Wholesaler cannot fit a meter to measure consumption to your premises, they may choose to charge based on an assessed tariff.
With an assessed tariff, your water Wholesaler is estimating your consumption based on what they know about your business and what water is being used for. For example, they consider the opening hours of the premises, the number of employees, the water fixtures and fittings, and the nature of activities at the premises. Castle Water calculate your bills using the Wholesaler's volume estimate.
How do I know if I am billed on an assessed tariff?
First, check the Customer Portal to see if there is a meter linked to your account. If there is no meter, check your latest bill to understand which unmetered tariff you are charged on. If your bill is calculated on an assessed tariff, you will see the word Assessed under 'Your Charges' section of your bill along with the Annual Volume Rate which is given in cubic metres.
Can I request a review?
If it is not possible to fit a meter, but you have recently moved into the premises or your consumption has changed, you can request a review of your assessed charges by providing us with up-to-date business information.
Please ensure that login to the Customer Portal.
Alternatively, register here.
